How to Earn Money from Online Writing

A blog – short for weblog — is:

* An online column, where each piece of writing — called a post — appears in sequence, with the newest one first.

* “…the first journalistic model that actually harnesses rather than merely exploits the true democratic nature of the web. It’s a new medium finally finding a unique voice.”–Andrew Sullivan

* “[a] collection of posts…short, informal, sometimes controversial, and sometimes deeply personal…with the freshest information at the top.”–Meg Hourihan

Want to Write (and Earn Money) on Blogit? It’s as Easy as 1-2-3

1. Sign up

Create an account and subscribe to Blogit. You get unlimited access to real-time blog entries and comments on every topic. Your payment is divided between the writers you actually read. (How this works)

Once you’re subscribed, you can start writing immediately. Whenever someone reads your writing, you earn money! (How this works) And, there are no hidden costs; Blogit pays all of your web site hosting, disk space and bandwidth costs.

2. Create a blog

The Start a New Blog page is where you’ll start your online column, or blog. (What is a blog?) Here are some of the sections you’ll find:

* Name

Make it clear, specific and memorable. If you’ll focus on a particular topic, consider mentioning it in the title.

* Description

Here’s your chance to really describe your blog. Perhaps you could explain your point of view, or mention your background as it relates to the topic.

* Category

Choose the most appropriate category. Will you cover many different topics? If so, use a general category such as Opinion, Journal or Everything Else; you can always change it later.

3. Add an entry

Go to the Write page, and click Add entry. This page is where you’ll enter the subject and text of your new entry. Here are some suggestions:

* Subject

Be clear, complete, and descriptive. Your subject should include words readers would search for when looking for your entry. Your subject, along with the first few words of your text, will also be shown to non-subscribers.

* Text

Here’s your chance to make your point. Like all other good writing, brevity and clarity are important.

You’re done! It’s so much fun, you’ll want to write another entry right away.
